     As we all know,  in the year 2013, the online Oxford dictionaries added a new trendy word selfie, which means taking self portrait photography of oneself. By holding smartphone we can easily have a click of ourselves. Surprisingly this phenomenon was quite common among the early days of photography investigation and research.

     The first ever selfie was taken by an amateur chemist and photographer ROBERT CORNELIUS in the year 1839. Setting up his camera at the back of the family store,  Cornelius took the image by removing the lens cap and then running into frame where he sat  at least for 15 minutes before covering up the lens again and most amazing fact is, that was the 'first selfie picture' ever taken.

                As we know the word selfie was added into the online oxford dictionary in the year 2013, so it must be a new word and might have found after the invention of smart phones. If you have an idea like this, then you are wrong.

                Because the first selfie was taken in the year 1839 and pioneer of selfie was Robert Cornelius, an American photographer. The time required to take the first self-portrait was around 10 to 15 minutes. Nowadays within a sec we can take a selfie image.
